How to stay away from new coronavirus

Li Liuyi, the leader of the Department of Infection Management-Disease Prevention and Control of Peking University First Hospital, combined with news from the National Health and Health Commission and other authoritative departments, compiled some preventive measures:

1. Coronavirus is mainly spread by droplets, and wearing a surgical mask correctly is an important method of prevention. When wearing a mask, the nose should be clamped against the nose wings, and the folds of the mask should be pulled to the chin area to ensure that the nose and mouth are completely covered. This can effectively prevent viral infections that are mainly spread by droplets.

The general symptoms of this new coronavirus infection are fever, fatigue, dry cough, and dyspnea gradually. Some patients have mild onset symptoms but no fever. Patients with these symptoms should also wear masks to prevent the virus from spreading to others.

Experts do not recommend that ordinary people wear medical protective masks, although medical protective masks improve the effect of filtering virus particles, but the permeability is poor, wearing them for a long time will cause hypoxia, thereby reducing the body's resistance; only in preventing airborne diseases such as It is necessary to wear medical protective masks for diseases such as tuberculosis and measles.

2. Do not cover directly with your hands when sneezing or coughing. There are about 300,000 microorganisms (including bacteria and viruses) in a sneeze of a healthy adult. If you have respiratory diseases, the number of bacteria is even more alarming. Therefore, when a person sneezes or coughs, they need to be covered to reduce the spread of bacteria and viruses. However, they cannot be covered directly by hand. They should be covered with paper towels.

3. Wash your hands correctly and in time. Remember to wash your hands after going to the toilet before going to a meal, going home, touching garbage, petting animals, or handling animal waste. When washing hands, pay attention to washing hands with running water and soap (liquid soap), and the time of rubbing is not less than 15 seconds. In order to facilitate memory, the rubbing steps are simply summarized as a 7-character mantra: "inner-outer-clamp-bow-big-stand-wrist".

Inner: palm to palm, rub each other

Outside: palm your opponent's back, rub with your hands crossed

Clip: palm to palm, rubbing with ten fingers

Bow: Ten fingers bent tightly, turned and rubbed

Big: Hold the thumb in the palm, twist and rub

Standing: fingertips rubbing in the palm

Wrist: clean your wrist

4. Improving immunity, try not to go to crowded and closed places, and wear masks if necessary.

Strengthening exercise, regular work and rest, and improving self-immunity are the most important means to avoid infection. Pay attention to maintaining indoor air circulation, avoid closed, non-circulating public places and places where people are concentrated (such as hospitals, stations, airports, etc.), and wear masks if necessary. After going home, wash your hands and nose in time. If you have fever and other respiratory tract infection symptoms, especially if the fever persists, go to a medical institution in time.

Avoid close contact with people who have flu or cold symptoms. Cook meat and eggs thoroughly when cooking. In the absence of protective measures, avoid contact with wild animals and poultry and livestock.
